How To Measure Amplifier Output.

People often ask how you measure the output of an amplifier. In car audio, there is no guarantee that your amplifier performs to the specifications on the box. Many manufacturers over rate their amplifier to make them seem more powerful, and a better value. Other manufacturers deliberately under rate their amplifiers so that competitors using them will be placed into lower power classes that they do not belong in, and then, win that class.For the factors, we shall see, repeatedly, even if an amp is properly assessed, you will not be able to use the entire output of the amplifier.

For a pretty close guestimate, it can be as simple as plugging a voltmeter to your son of speakers when you play your amp and using the tension formula both voltage divided by impedance. For example, if your voltmeter indicates 10 volts and you know that your speakers at 4 ohms then simply calculate 10 times 10 volts is 100 volts, then divide by the impedance of 4 .. 25watts ... Very simple!
